Custom software development

Off-the-shelf programs rarely fit a company perfectly. We build systems tailored to your processes that grow together with the business.

Services in: Custom software

Legacy modernization

The old system still works, but every change is costly and risky. We help clean it up, upgrade it or replace it step by step, without stopping the company.

MVP and prototypes

Instead of building everything at once, we start with the smallest version of the product that shows whether the idea works. Then we develop it based on real data.

Internal tools and workflow

Many companies run key processes in spreadsheets and email. We replace them with simple systems that enforce step order, permissions and deadlines.

Maintenance and development

A system needs care after launch: updates, monitoring and quick reaction to errors. We provide it for our own projects and for solutions taken over from other companies.

Dedicated teams

A team that works on your product like an in-house department, without the cost and time of hiring. We choose the team’s composition to match the project stage.

What we can do for you

Analysis and design

Workshops, specification and a prototype to settle scope before coding starts.

Iterative development

We deliver working pieces every few weeks, so you see progress and can react.

Testing and security

Automated tests, code reviews and security planned from the design stage.

Maintenance and growth

Monitoring, fixes and new features after launch.

About this service

Custom software, also called bespoke software, is built around the processes of a specific company. It covers MVPs and prototypes, internal tools and workflow systems, legacy system modernization, and maintenance and development of existing solutions. We can also join your team as a dedicated development team.

Compared with off-the-shelf programs, a custom system avoids workarounds, integrates better with other tools and gives you full control of the code and its further development.

Why Cormo

Fits your processes

The system reflects how the company works, not the other way around.

Full ownership

Code and documentation belong to you, with no lock-in to a single vendor.

Scalability

The architecture anticipates growth in users and data.

Technologies

Experience you can rely on

We have been building custom software since 2016, in over 100 projects. We work iteratively, show progress every few weeks, and hand over the code and documentation to the client. We also take over systems built by other companies.

How we work

  1. 01

    Meeting

We learn the business goal, the users and the project constraints.

  2. 02

    Estimate

We settle the scope, a first estimate and a schedule.

  3. 03

    Delivery

We design, build and test in short iterations.

  4. 04

    Support

We deploy, monitor and evolve the solution after launch.

Frequently asked questions

What does custom software mean and how is it different from off-the-shelf?

It is software designed and written for the specific processes of your company. Off-the-shelf software is cheaper at the start, but you have to fit its rules, and the limits often show only during use. Custom software does exactly what you need and can be developed further. We deliver the application, source code and documentation, which belong to you. We discuss the choice between off-the-shelf and custom openly; sometimes a ready-made product really is better.

What does working on a custom project look like and how long does it take?

We start with a conversation about the business goal and an analysis of processes. Then we agree on scope, mockups and a plan, and deliver iteratively, showing working parts every few weeks. Duration depends on the number of features, integrations and how quickly decisions are made on the client side. After the first conversation we give a schedule in stages rather than one date, because scope often gets refined during the work.

How do you price a custom project when the scope is unclear?

We start with an analysis that organizes the requirements, then split the project into modules and estimate each one. The price is affected by the number of features, the complexity of rules, integrations and interface requirements. If the scope is uncertain, we suggest starting with a small stage that produces a working version and deciding on next steps from there. This limits the risk of building things nobody will use. For comparison we also present a trimmed-down option, so you can see how scope translates into cost and time.

How do you reduce the risk that the project turns out differently than I expected?

We work iteratively, so you see working versions early and can correct direction before the cost of change grows. We agree the scope in writing and discuss changes as they arise, together with their effect on time and budget. The code is tested, and our security approach is aligned with ISO/IEC 27001. If something is not going to plan, we say so right away so you can decide early.

Will the code be mine and who looks after the system after handover?

The source code and documentation belong to you, so you can hand the system to another team. We use popular technologies such as Laravel, Python, React and PostgreSQL, so finding a contractor is not a problem. If you prefer, we can take care of maintenance: fixes, updates and further development in iterations. The choice is yours. The documentation covers the architecture, setup and key decisions, so a new person can get up to speed quickly. Handing over knowledge is part of delivery, not an add-on.
